Privacy Policy (GDPR)
Introduction
In order for us to provide our services and fulfill our legal obligations, we must process personal data about our customers (customer data). Hyre is committed to ensuring that personal data is handled in accordance with applicable laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Traffic Act, the Accounting Act (expenses and invoice basis), and the Marketing Act. Below, we will describe how we process customer data and what rights you have.
If you have questions or wish to exercise your rights, you can contact us at hej@hyre.dk. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency regarding any matter related to the processing of your personal data.
Why and How We Collect Customer Data
When you create a profile, we collect information about your name, personal identification number, driver’s license photo, phone number, payment card, and email. The purpose of storing this data is to enable us to fulfill our agreement with you and meet our legal obligations.
When you rent a vehicle, we register your driving history, which includes information on rental time, rental amount, GPS points for the vehicle during driving (updated every minute), payments, fuel refills, and driven kilometers. The purpose is to calculate what you owe us for the rental period and to show you where to pick up the vehicle. When you use the app, we use the latest location from your phone for better customer service, but we do not store any location history.
We also use your customer data as described above in our communication with you in the Hyre app, via email, and SMS, which is directly tied to delivering the service. This includes order confirmations, insurance certificates, time-sensitive messages regarding the rental period, receipts, and invoices. If you have given consent, we also send you information about goods and services that may be beneficial to you via email or the app.
We process data to better understand your needs and improve our service. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in enhancing our services. We limit the use of personal data and anonymize data as much as possible.
Examples of Data Usage for Statistical or Development Purposes:
- Collecting and analyzing data to better understand the use of our service, allowing us to adapt content and improve the customer experience. This could include conducting a customer survey (electronically or by phone), either through an online form or input received via phone or chat.
- Using statistical data to better understand how our service is used and to group customers with similar characteristics. This could be based on driving patterns, number of rental contracts, type of car rented, location, age, or other data that helps us understand how users like you use our service. In such cases, data is aggregated so that you are not personally identifiable. The information is also used to produce traffic statistics for capacity planning, among other things.
- Using data to correct any errors you may have identified.
- Monitoring driving behavior and using it to warn or exclude users for violations of traffic laws.
Examples of Data Usage to Provide Our Service:
- Billing, credit checks, and payment information for processing payments.
- Using data during a reservation, such as your last location from your mobile phone. We do this to assist with navigation and customer support inquiries.
- Handling customer inquiries (electronically or by phone) to assist you if you're stuck or have questions.
Transfer of Personal Data to Third Countries
Hyre stores and processes data primarily in Norway and within the EU/EEA, but in some cases, we work with partners outside the EU/EEA, including third countries. In such situations, we take additional precautions to ensure that data is processed in accordance with our standards through measures such as using EU standard contracts, which ensure the transfer of data to third countries, or by transferring data to countries pre-approved by the EU.
